A fiction is made up story. Fictional mode and pattern is another similar concept of fictional spectrum. A fictional work that presents a world better than the real world is in the mode of romance. A work that presents a fictional world worse than the real world is in the mode of anti-romance, or satire. Fiction includes all history, realism, romance and fantasy. The world of romance emphasizes beauty and order. The world of satire emphasizes ugliness and disorder. The relations between individual characters and these distorted worlds constitute a crucial element of fiction.
In some master plots we get some characters having harmonious relations to others while we see some characters having conflicting relations. Some characters make their journey from harmony to destruction and some others make quite opposite. In tragedy, the hero becomes the victim of tragic flaw.
The comic rise and tragic fall are straight forward because the values of the orderly world represent human virtue raised to a heroic power. The satiric and pathetic falls are ironic because of the inverted values of the debased world.
Actually in a fiction we get six different types of fictional patterns. They are the comic rise, the satiric rise, the tragic fall, pathetic fall, the heroic quest and anti-heroic quest. Romance, tragedy and comedy make use of various fictional patterns and show up their face in different ways. In some fiction various modes combine and make the plot more subtle and complicated We see some plot which makes complex blend of tragic and comic senses and characters. In romance the characters try to live in the world of sophistication and dreamy world. Satire makes the audience look and feel the debased world of human. In such world we get characters presented with pungent criticism on the side of writer.
